Ourense Vinis Terrae advisory committee outlines the programme of profesional activities

>> The X Galician Wine and Spirits of Quality Fair will be held at Expourense on 5 and 6 June to bring Galician wineries into contact with national and international buyers and importers

>> This event organizes a Wine and Spirits Tunnel, an Extraordinary Tasting of the wines present at the fair, a Blind Tasting Contest by teams and commented tastings of wines and spirits awarded at the Official Tastings of Galicia

>> It will also be the space chosen for the presentation of the Wine Technology Platform and there will be a day on managing the carbon footprint in viticulture

The advisory committee of Ourense Vinis Terrae met in Expourense to outline the program of activities for the next edition, the tenth already, of the Quality Galician Wine and Spirits Fair to be held at the venue fair on the 5th and 6th of June, consolidated as the only exclusively professional show dedicated to quality autochthonous wines. In this meeting the advances in the commercialization of exhibiting Galician wineries were presented, in attracting national buyers and international importers and in the organization of the program of activities.

The meeting of the advisory committee of Ourense Vinis Terrae 2023 was led by the managing director of Expourense, Rogelio Martínez, and was attended by the vice president of the Provincial Council of Ourense and president of Inorde, Rosendo Fernández; the director of the Galician Food Quality Agency- AGACAL, José Luis Cabarcos; and the head of the Food Quality Promotion Service of the Ministry of the rural environment, María José González; The technical director of the C. R. D. O. Monterrei; the president of the Spanish Federation of Oenology – FEAE, Luis Buitrón; the president of the Association of Sommeliers of Galicia – Gallaecia, Pedro Sestayo; the technician of Evega, Emiliano Trigo, and the manager of the Association of Young Entrepreneurs – AJE, Sandra Ferro.

Among the features of this event in 2023 will be the First Contest “Get to know our wines”, a blind tasting by teams aimed exclusively at professionals in the wine sector. The teams will be made up of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 professional members from the world of wine: sommeliers, oenologists, winemakers, distributors, waiters,… who will test their senses and their knowledge about Galician wines. The registration period for this contest, which will distribute 1,5000 euros in prizes, is already open and those interested can register through the website www.vinisterrae.es (where the complete rules can also be consulted).The registration period will end on June 1 at 12:00 am.

As for the activities during the fair, there will be commented tastings, in Spanish and English, of the white and red wines awarded with the “Acios de Ouro” and traditional spirits and liqueurs recognized with the “Potes de Ouro” in the Official Tastings of Galicia 2022, organized by Agacal- Experiencias de Calidade, an entity attached to the ministry of the rural environment of the Galician board. The third edition of the Ourense Vinis Terrae Extraordinary Tasting will also be held and there will be a Galician Wine and Spirits Tunnel that will present more than 150 references from the wineries exhibiting at the show.

Regarding the presentations addressed to wineries, Ourense Vinis Terrae 2023 will host the presentation of the Wine Technology Platform (PTV), an association that is committed to innovation as a driver of competitiveness in the wine sector, national and European and currently has more than 200 members throughout the country. On the other hand, there will also be a conference on sustainability and viticulture that will address the management of the carbon footprint in wineries. In addition, as usual, the Viticulture and Oenology Station of Galicia – EVEGA, will take advantage of the show to present its latest monograph on Galician varietals.
